Born in Japan in 1959, Minoru Takahashi has continued sending in domestic
competitions since the 1980s. He has achieved the prize title of gAsahi
Creative Toy Competitionh for the past 4 consecutive years, and he has
also been awarded the Inamoto Tadashi Prize in the 5th Hands Grand-Prix.
Since he has been recognized in these events, he has combined the ideas
of wood,@mechanism, and playfulness to create the word gMecha-ki-smh.("ki"
means wood in Japanese) With this new word, Minoru designed the window display of Ginza Sony Building from 1993 to 1998. Afterwards, he held a group exhibition in Paris.
He won the gWooden Toy Craftsman Championshiph in the TV program, TV Champion, in 2000. In 2002, he was chosen as one
of 30 top artists in Japan.Since then, he has been exhibiting gThe Disappearing Time Machineh, which
uses visual trickery, in gThe Doraemon Exhibitionh.This exhibition is now
making the rounds in Japan until 2005.
As his greatest project, he executed a wooden mechanical airship,gThe ACT-Gh, which is the biggest in Japan (height 4m / length 4.5m).It is located in the
entrance hall of Misawa Aviation & Science Museum in Aomori.He is still carrying on with his energetic activity by creating new projects
2005,He made The Championship Trophy of The International Junior Robot Contest
in Mie. It is a mechanical torophy by visual trick which is called "Masahiro Mori Cup".
